Has anyone researched the "Bethel" of the bible?

i found this extremely appropriate.

the meaning of bethel (which the wtbts will tell everyone) is house of god....yet in 1&2nd kings it talks of bethel turning bad and being full of false gods and being destroyed.

(there is one part that says that they would let anyone in and make them a priest...no qualifications...just like at bethel) has anyone done studies on this?

If memory serves, the NWT says: "commit transgression." Your point is well made, Pahpa. Those of us who inhabited the none-too-hallowed walls of Bethel often had commented on those strangely prophetic words of Amos. Many an inmate of the Tower of Brooklyn truly saw his destiny in that "command" of sorts. Strange, sinning led to a release, whereas the well-behaved remained incarcerated!

Is this one prophecy that the WT has NOT applied to itself?

Sorry for the confusion! Those are all song titles; you just add your own words to the end. But any old song you know will do---just change the words a bit. Didn't somebody do "On top of old Smoky, all covered with...Cheese"? or "Deck the halls with good time Charley", etc. Hope that helps!

The moment I wake up, before I put on my...........slippers, another song title pops into my head! There's been so much on the board lately about music, you know---"Name That Tune"---that it's only natural music's the first thing on my mind. Actually, it was two things; the other thing was COFFEE! "I'm in the Mood for... Coffee". Really though, not so much mood as physical necessity. Oh, my point: I've got all these song titles running through my head. Since I'm no longer employed as official Musicsmith at your local kingdom and assembly halls (no severance package or unemployment benefits)---that gig was up a long time ago---I may have to go back to work as a lounge lizard.

I need some titles from you, my creatively imaginative friends. You've already proven your mettle with "Caption Time". For example:

"It's My Party and I'll..."

"Merrily We Roll..."

"Everybody Loves a..."

"Ah! Sweet Mystery of..."

"Days of Wine and..."

"Three Coins in the..."

"Deck the..."

"I'm Dreaming of a ..."

I guess you get the idea. Who knows, I may come up with a comedy routine!

Talk about fishy!

i am trying to keep my diet healthy seeing i was in the hospital and had to eat light and also cleanse my system for that dang surgery.

so tonight, seeing i could get nobody to do anything more than just to drive me to the store, i decided to have fish.

so i made a salad from a cut mix of radishes and carrots, snap peas and green types.

Hey Decki,

You're not overdoing it, are you? How long since surgery? I had two surgeries and it took me a while to get moving and I likewise had to eat light. I'm not a candidate for a hystericalectomy, but all my friends and family who have had one each had to be CAREFUL to not go overboard. They felt better soon and started back to normal and then the fireworks began---relapse. You said you might be naughty and blame it on the other Sparky---it won't work cuz I'm a GUY! Please get help or let it go. When you're healed you'll know it and be back to your old hard labor. Keep us posted.

Wasn't Tony's singing fantastic? And seeing all those admiring glances as you swirled across the dance floor in your gown of beautiful hue. What were they playing? "Waltz in 3/4 Time", I think.

Yes, a full belly is a great feeling---we all have so much to be grateful for! I have dinner every week at a student's house and we all join hands and pray together. That horrid term "interfaith" has long since been stricken from my vocabulary. By the way, my nickname has to do with my hair also!

Thanx for all your wonderful replies to "I Wanna Be Around". I am SO glad that song title came into my head---met alot of great folks as a result!

negative attitude

do you think people who are brought up as witnesses have a negative, judgemental attitude?.

i ask because i don't seem to like many people, i make a new friend, think they are womderful to begin with and then before long i start to notice loads of bad points, people start to annoy me.. or maybe this happens to everyone, i dunno.. what do you think?.

Abraham Lincoln said that if you look for the bad in people, expecting to find it, you surely will. All the points made here are excellent and will help you assess people and circumstances in a balanced way. Some people are easy-going and kind, but that doesn't automatically attract us to them as friends. Maybe an outspoken, diamond-in-the-rough becomes your friend. My mother was the latter type. She turned alot of people off, but she was surely beloved by the congregation's outcasts. I guess we have to forgive, and hope to be forgiven, far more than Peter's 'isn't seven times enough?'

Glad you're feeling better now---see, everybody cheered you up! You didn't have to wait for an elder's visit to make you feel better and loved. When I posted "What a Difference a Day Makes" it was without any knowledge of your situation. But it turned up for you; it just came into my head---hadn't thought of that song title for years. Sometimes I get the shakes too, but maybe for different reasons! Isn't it great to be here, unfettered by Theocratic rules and regs? Just be kind and thoughtful. Respect one another. I gave up my education at the AWAKE! INSTITUTE OF DUBIOUS LEARNING; the professors thought they could get away with their dishonest scholarship. Not! On-line study is the best!

I remember that in the first department I worked at Bethel, we received articles from the WT printed on Bible paper---the lightest weight available to us. We would then put however many sheets we had into envelopes for posting. I don't know how they were addressed and routed (to Turkish JWs), but it seemed exciting to infiltrate hostile lands with "God's Word".

Hello again, Choosing!

I really don't have an original thought on this. But the dumping of the two-class system and contemplation of Paradise different from WT dogma has me thinking. Jesus' comment on his Father's house having many mansions and his going away to prepare a place for us to be WITH him is all so new. Need to chew on this awhile. Pretty heavy-duty. Expanding horizons.
